Final Presentation

Image
For my final presentation, I will be using a trifold to create my final presentation to present to classes at our school. On that presentation we will be talking about our journey to reach our goal, how we enjoyed the process, etc. Also I forgot to mention I was originally going to learn Italian, but I quickly realized that it was the direct opposite of English and so I chose something that was a little more my level and started ASL. Anyways, I will post a picture of my final  presentation soon!! 😉

ASL Common Phrases and Greetings, Common Questions, and Feelings

Image
Hello friends who are reading this blog : ] This will be my last learning blog , meaning it will be the last one where I learn sign language. :( I have reached my destination/goal of learning all that I was going to for the beginning of sign language ( there is the picture of my work progress I had planned since the beginning of this project ). So , for this last learning blog which I used last Friday and continuing this week to learn how to sign common phrases and greetings, common questions and feelings. These were pretty easy and not that hard. [These were way better that learning the colors which were so difficult >< ] Except for t he common phrases were a little bit difficult because they were different and required a more difficult motion than usually required. I also forgot to mention that my main goal out of this project was to be able to learn enough ASL to be able to start a super SIMPLE conversation to someone who is deaf. Also ASL had a different s...

ASL Clothing, Family, and People

Image
“Family Signs in ASL.” Family Signs in ASL , ASL That, 3 Dec. 2013, www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUg1eKl65p4. Today I am learning how to sign pieces of clothing like shoes and shirts. They were very simple because the tool that I'm learning from (which is a pamphlet like thing) has a description of how to sign the piece of clothing which relates very closely to the actual word . For example, to sign the word shoes, you point your hands downward into the letter "S" sign and tap your hands together to represent the click of the shoe. I also learned how to sign names of people in your family members like your mom, dad, etc. And I also used learned how sign friend, boy, girl, etc. This video helped extremely well and I will probably use more of his videos.

ASL Numbers, Nature, and Weather

Image
I also forgot to upload this so...... here it is!!! These are the ASL numbers (in case you don't know what ASL stands for, it stands for American Sign Language) which I did a while back didn't notice that I didn't upload it yet. There is also a number 10 for sign language but it got cut of sadly. Also I have completed the ASL nature and weather which was not that hard to be honest and took little time to memorize. Most of the hand motions for it was very representative of the meaning of that motion, so learning it wasn't that hard but it sure is exciting to learn more every week. :) <Also I made a poll on the top of the page so please go and vote on it. Thanks!!>

ASL Colors, Time of Day, and Week

Image
Hello again everyone ! I hope you do not mind I uploaded this on a Saturday because my laptop kept freezing yesterday  so I had to upload today instead. If you are wondering where I am in my progress , I am working on colors, days of the week, and time of day. This week of my progress , I think the colors were the hardest to memorize and get used to because they were all very different and some had two parts to the motions . (I also coul dn't find a good pict ure for the ASL colors and time of day so there is not a picture for them) :(

Intro to ASL

Hello to anyone that is reading this!! I'm Jennifer and right now you are on my blog which I will post and new blog every Friday of the week. If you are wondering what this is about, I'm about to tell you. This blog is for a project in my 8 th grade language arts class where we  are using each Friday as a new day to learn and grow on a topic we chose to learn on . Now, you might be wondering what I chose, right? Well, I chose to learn sign language because I saw someone at my church one day translat ing  a song with sign language for people who  were deaf. When I saw how much passion she for it, it inspired me very very much and made to do the same. So now here I am, learning sign language little by little. Hope you enjoy my blog!!!
